With the recent COVID surge and high demand for tests, many people are home from work this week. That has created a strain on many businesses trying to manage their organizations, despite a staff shortage. From manufacturing to retail, restaurants to childcare centers, industries of all kinds are feeling the effects of a workforce limited by the COVID surge....

A number of Connecticut businesses have been hit hard after people have been unable to work due to COVID-19.

The vast majority of PPP recipients in Connecticut received loans under $150,0000.

From February 24 through March 9, only loan applications from businesses with less than 20 employees will be accepted. The goal is to give mom and pops, like those run by women, people of color and even non-citizens, who haven’t established a lending relationship with a bank, a chance to go to the front of the line.

The state is teaming up with a business group to make sure essential workers have free face coverings for when they are on the job. Those businesses are scrambling. “Everybody is looking for masks.
