Some cities are urging President Joe Biden’s administration to loosen its rules for spending $350 billion of coronavirus relief money directed toward state and local governments.

After distributing over $28 billion, the Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) closed July 6 after it was depleted. Now, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., would like to see it reopened and refunded.

Federal pandemic relief funds that restaurants have relied on for more than a year have been depleted and restaurant owners say they still need help.

Connecticut restaurants that have struggled through the pandemic now have the ability to apply for grant money to help with their recovery through the American Rescue Plan.
