10/12: Works of Art

GET SALTY:  Why not start your Tuesday evening with a little Happy Hour to get your juices flowing.  And what better way to enjoy happy hour than with your choice of Margarita.  Head to Taqueria Tavern in West Hartford for some of the best Mexican food in the area.  And from 4-7 p.m. you can get some great drink specials (from their beers, to the margaritas, to their selection of over 40 tequilas) and some great food specials (like ribs, empanadas, a perrito or tacos).

HOOFING IT:  They're a little like trying to fit a square peg into a round band.  Since the mid-nineties, indie band Deerhoof has been making some of the most difficult and unclassifiable music you can think off.  Singer Satomi Matsuzaki has a trademark high-pitched coo, while the rest of the band has a sound that could sometimes be described as "noise,"  But with all their contradictions, they've somehow managed to create their own brand of pop music.  Tonight, you can check them out at Daniel Street Club in Milford.  Tickets are $14.  The show starts at 8 p.m.

IMAGES:  Open your eyes and check out the work of locally grown fine artist Andre Rochester.  The UConn School of Fine Arts is presenting his artwork right now at the Paris in Plantsville Art Gallery.  Rochester says his work is very much dependent on what the audience sees in it, and becomes attached to.  Tonight until 8 p.m., you can see check out the series of abstract/conceptual paintings and portraits he's been working on since 2009.
