11/16: The Godfather, The Beat, and The Wines

JUST BEAT IT:  Let's face it,  Mondays suck.  So why not start your week right, and check out some live music?  The English Beat is taking the stage at the Fairfield Theatre Company.  The ska/pop/soul/reggae/punk rock fusion band has been together since forming in England (go figure) back in 1978.  Since then, they've played with the likes of Bowie, The Police, REM, The Clash and the Talking Heads (to name a few).  Tickets are $42. 7:30pm.

STEAMING WITH THE FISHES:  If I can get a little personal, tonight combines two of my favorite things -- beer and "The Godfather."  Head to City Steam in Hartford to see the ultimate mob movie during their Classic Movie Monday.  Enjoy the Brewery's best beers, while enjoying Sonny, Fredo, Michael et al deal with the easygoing lifestyle of the typical mafia family.  And not only is the movie free, there's even free popcorn!!  Bring your pillows and blankets.  Doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 7pm.  And remember "Drink the beer, take the cannolis."

THE VALLEY, NOT THE CABBAGE:  Take a culinary tour of Napa Valley tonight, without ever leaving Connecticut.  Burtons Grill of South Windsor is hosting a special wine dinner, featuring wines from Trinchero Family Estates.  There will be a four-course meal with each course carefully paired with a specific wine.  Dinner includes crab cakes, prosciutto-wrapped stuffed pairs, braised short ribs and a chocolate sin cake for dessert.  It's $65 per person.  Your excursion starts at 6:30pm.
