12/23: Lyrics and Laughs

ENOUGH ALREADY:  Celebrate the season tonight with some great music all for a great cause.  The Space in Hamden is hosting the Enough Winter Concert.  And no, it's not "we've had enough of Winter so we're holding a concert three days into the season."  The show is put on by Enough, a student-led nonprofit organization advocating for peace in the Middle East.  Tonight's show features a group of bands, including Rising Sun Quest, Offram, Chef Luv, Clockman and Crane, Like Watson and more.  Tickets for the show are $10, with proceeds benefitting the Orphanage of Opportunity.  The show starts at 7 p.m. 

HOMEGROWN:  Fairfield Theatre Company tonight, plays home to some up-and-coming local talent.  Crunk band, EKL will take the stage tonight with an electronic blend of psychedelic improvisation, mature songrwiting and dance grooves that will get your toes tapping (do people still tap their toes?).  The band strives to make every show different and memorable.  And tonight's special holiday "throwdown"  is sure to give you some great musical memories heading into the holiday.  Tickets for the show are just $1 at the door.  Doors open at 7 p.m.

CHRISTMAS COMEDY:  She's appeared on Comedy Central, The Tonight Show and Last Comic Standing.  She's even been given an award for Best Female Comic in NYC.  Tonight, you can check out the stand-up stylings of Jessica Kirson at Comix at Foxwoods.  She's headlining the Poppy's Gay for the Holidays show.  Joining Kirson is Kate Rigg, a vetean of the New York and LA club scene.  Your host for the evening is Poppy Champlin, a graduate of Second City and star of her own  Showtime special.  Tickets for the evening of comedy are $15-$20.  The show starts at 8 p.m.
