5/19: Food, Photography and Mr. Roboto

DOMO ARIGATO:  What would you do, where would you go if you could take a musical trip back in time?  Would you go see the Beatles at Shea, the Stones when they were still young or Nirvana before Kurt Cobain self destructed?  For some, this magical mystery trip would take them back to the 1970s to see Styx perform during their glory days.  So we don't have the 1.21 gigawatts (or a Delorean for that matter) to make the fantasy a reality.  But we can do the next best thing.  Rockin' the Paradise - A Tribute to Styx will be on stage at the Mohegan Sun Wolf Den.  Rockin' the Paradise is all about the chemistry, passion and energy that made Styx a fan favorite (just ask Adam Sandler in Big Daddy).  The show is free and starts at 7 p.m., but you must over 21 (but we're thinking Styx fans won't have to worry about that).

We've got an old fashioned two-fer for ya tonight at Blue Back Square in West Hartford.

TOAST OF THE TOWN:  Each week, one of Blue Back's restaurants teams up with a nonprofit agency for the "Taste N' Toast Series."  The event lets you get great discounts on food and drinks, and at the same time help out a great cause.  Tonight, it's Rizzuto's turn.  For a $10 donation you can enjoy their signature Italian menu including pastas and pizzas from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Tonight's fun will help get the word out about Susan G. Komen for the Cure

COMING INTO FOCUS:   Before you dive into dinner, head over to the art-full Gallery.  Once you make your way inside, you'll be immersed in an exhibit that features the photographic work of 18 artists.  Here's the kicker, all 18 are Hartford Art School BFA candidates (class of 2011).  The First Sight exhibit represents their semester-long projects.  The students all used different approaches, media and styles.  The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
