7/5: Keep the Party Going

BOOMING FUN:  Sure the 4th is in the rear-view for another year, but that doesn't mean the celebrations are over.  Head to Bushnell Park tonight to kick off the Hartford Jazz Society's "Monday Night Jazz" series.  The evening's music will be provided by swinging pianist Eric Reed (the opening act is Mixashawn, a multi-faceted artist and towering talent on reeds and flutes).  Tonight is just the first of the free Monday night concerts in the park that runs through August 2nd.  But because tonight is number 1, and it's the day after Independence Day, why not have some fireworks?  The fun starts at 6 p.m.

DINNER AND A SHOW:  If you make plans to head out for the Monday Night Jazz show, why not grab a bite to eat first.  Head over to Spris for their $23.95 menu.  You can enjoy an appetizer, entree and dessert for a great price.  The menu changes on a regular basis, so you'll never know what you might have for dinner.

TAKE ME TO THE COUNTRY:  In the world of Country Music, names like Underwood, McGraw and Brooks have long dominated the charts.  But don't be surprised if you start hearing the name Niemann popping up in the conversation.  Jerrod Lee Niemann (though we think it'd be more fun if his first name was Marcus) first hit the charts in 2006, and hit the top 40 in March with his single "Lover, Lover."  Tonight, Niemann is hitting the Wolf Den at Mohegan Sun.  The show starts at 8 p.m.
