Columbus Ships Sail Into Norwich

Ships are replicas of those sailed in 1492.

Replicas of two ships used during Christopher Columbus' famous 1492 voyage are sailing into Norwich Harbor this weekend.

The Columbus Foundation is bringing the replicas of the Nina and Pinta to Connecticut as part of the Norwich River Fest, which is scheduled to begin this weekend.

The Nina is handmade and is supposed to be an accurate replica of the ship Columbus sailed. The Pinta recently was built in Brazil and is larger than the original.

The two ships will be docked at the Marina at American Wharf from Thursday through June 9 with tours begin on Friday.

If you can't go, you can watch a segment that the city of Dubuque did on the boats.
