North Haven hosts old school talk with the man who put the D.M.C. in Run-D.M.C.

Darryl McDaniels put the D.M.C. in Run-D.M.C. -- he's the DMC part -- and the old-school rapper is heading to North Haven on Wednesday night.

McDaniels, one of the pioneers of hip-hop culture, is at Gateway Community College on Wednesday to discuss "From Old School To New School to Your School: Rap and Hip Hop."

The speech started at 3 p.m.

The event is co-sponsored by The Esther Haseltine Schiavone Endowment Fund that supports arts events at the school.

McDaniels is created with transforming the musical landscape as one-third of the trailblazing, multi-platinum rap group.

The event is in the auditorium at GCC's North Haven campus on 88 Bassett Road.  It will run you $25 to get in, just $3 if you are a student.
