State officials kicked off a $2.6 million summer tourism campaign on Monday with a special focus on attracting women, including those making their families' vacation decisions.
Gov. Dannel Malloy and others announced the effort Monday, a partnership between Connecticut's tourism office and the state's tourist attractions and businesses.
The marketing campaign will start this week with online and traditional advertising and other marketing efforts.
They're putting special focus on attracting women between 25 and 54 years old in Connecticut and metropolitan New York, including those who make many of their families' vacation plans and those with high incomes and a propensity for travel.
The state will spend $1.6 million on the campaign, and tourism businesses and chambers of commerce are contributing $1 million for the effort.
