Travel Site Caters to Couples

Love a romantic getaway but find that the planning can take the magic out of the vacation?

That’s where Mr and Mrs Smith steps in.  The boutique and luxury hotel booking specialist offers a carefully curated list of hotels around the globe, all tailored to couples looking for an amorous escape.

Founder James Lohan said the site caters to “time poor urbanites,” who don’t have the time to research boutique hotels or shop for best deals.  The Website, with an office in New York City, has just launched a U.S. version.

Lohan says Mr & Mrs Smith curates its hotels differently than other travel site models.  A tastemaker couple visits every single hotel to write the review and then “a network of spies keeps content up to date,” he said.

”Nobody can buy their way into the collection,” Lohan said.  “For us, it’s not about stars and diamonds, but more unique, smaller properties.”

Among the carefully chosen properties:  The Bowery Hotel and Crosby Street Hotel in Manhattan.  In Turks & Caicos, there’s Parrot Cay set “on a private island’s mile long beach.”  In the mood for mountains?  A Berber castle retreat in the Atlas mountains of Morocco is sure to re-ignite any romance.

The site has more than 700 hotels around the world in 300 different destinations.  Each property, Lohan says, also promises “a little bit of magic.”
