It's time to root, root, root for the home teams!
But make sure you get their early, to see some of your NBC Connecticut favorites in action. Bob Maxon is throwing out the first pitch. Anjuli Porter is singing the National Anthem and Yvonne Nava will be there too. Believe me, you don't want to miss it.
Sticking with the sports theme, the Hartford Wolf Pack begin their quest for another Calder Cup title.
The Pack opens their first-round series against the Worcester Sharks at the XL Center at 7 p.m. Hartford is the top seed in the Atlantic Division.
Moving right along, we've got music on the mind tonight.
Tonight in Hartford, Black Eye'd Sally's is kicking off their Blues Band Challenge, one of the blues competitions in the state. Competitors will learn tonight what their Challenge time slots are. Spectators will enjoy an all-star jam session. Oh yeah, and the Blue Moon girls will be there from 9 to 11 p.m. to keep the party going with beer specials.
And the fiddles and bagpipes will be in full effect at the Warehouse in Hartford.
Enter the Haggis will bring their upbeat Canadian blend of Celtic folk rock to The Warehouse in Hartford. (Sounds weird, but intriguing, no?) The band claims to draw on 18 different genres of music. We dare you to try and name them all.
It'll run you $15 at the door to see the show.
For those looking to see and be seen, head to Real Artways in Hartford for their Creative Cocktail Hour and an unforgettable night of drinking, mingling and, of course, art. Tonight, you can enjoy a video presentation of Edgar Allen Poe's "Tell Tale Heart," seen through the eyes of the protagonist in a world inhabited by puppets. It's $10 dollars to join the party.
And finally, perhaps the most clever idea for a singles night we've ever seen: it's the Plenty of Fish in the Sea Social Night at Mystic Aquarium.
You can mix and mingle in the unique ambiance of the aquarium's main exhibit, surrounded by fish, marine mammals and reptiles. And that's just the singles (Don't forget to tip your waiters folks. I'll be here all week!)
There will be plenty of dancing, tasty hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and wine samples. The fun starts at 7 p.m., but reservations are recommended. Call 860-572-5955, ext. 336 for information.
And if you still think there's nothing to do in Connecticut, then you're just not trying hard enough.
