2/5-2/7: Your Weekend, Super Sized

GET THAT MAN A TIDE STICK:  Aaron Lewis has been packing people into arenas for years, with his platinum selling hard rock band Staind.  But for the sixth straight year, the Longmeadow, MA native is leaving his band-mates behind and hitting the road for a solo tour, armed only with an acoustic guitar (We love rock stars with a sensitive side).  Friday night, you can see Lewis at the Mohegan Sun Arena.  He's been packing them into the Sun for years, and before Friday's show, Lewis will be inducted into Mohegan's Walk of Fame.  Tickets for the show are $35 and $50.  The induction starts at 5pm, and the music begins at 8pm.

V-DAY:  Head to the Charter Oak Cultural Center in Hartford this weekend to see a showing of the Vagina Monologues.  The traditional Valentines Day production will hit the stage Friday and Saturday night.  The show is made up of monologues somehow relating to things like love, sex, rape, birth, things like that.  Before each production, there's a screening of the short film, "Every Five Minutes," which is adapted from a play about sexual assault awareness.  Ticket sales from this weekend's shows benefit organizations that work to prevent violence against women.  Tickets for the shows are $15.  Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm.

BARING IT ALL:  It's been an Academy Award-winning movie, and a Tony-nominated musical.  This weekend, you can see it all for yourself.  And we do mean all.  The Full Monty is playing at the Warner Theatre in Torrington.  The show is about a group of frustrated, unemployed steelworkers who decide the only thing left for them to do is lose their clothes.  And in the process of becoming males strippers, they find the strength to overcome their inner demons.  Tickets are $18.50-$24.50.  Click here for show-times.

DON'T MESS WITH THE 'CAT:  You loved him in the Police Academy movies, Scrooged and countless TV appearances.  This weekend, you can see the man in person.  Bobcat Goldthwait will take the stage for a series of shows at the Funny Bone in Manchester.  Armed with one of the most recognizable voices in entertainment, Bobcat has been packing venues across the country for years.  Tickets for the shows are $20.  He's set to perform at 7:30pm and 10pm both Friday and Saturday night.

saturday, Saturday, SATURDAY, sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY!!:  Pack an entire month's worth of guys entertainment into one weekend.  Saturday and Sunday at the XL Center in Hartford, Monster Jam is taking over.  The evening of massive Monster Trucks is sure be a crowd pleaser for both young and old.  Say hi to Grave Digger for us, and don't forget to bring your earplugs!  Tickets are $22.50-$37.50.  2pm.

ROLLING ALONG:  There's just something sexy about a strong woman on a pair of roller skates.  If you're with us (or if you just like to see a truly unique sport), head to the CT Sports Center in Woodbridge Saturday for the season opener of the Connecticut RollerGirls.  The opening match of the roller derby season features the Yankee Brutals against the Backyard Bullies (sound sweet don't they?).  After the match, head to the after party.  You can grab a drink, some food and hang out with the teams at Westside Bar and Grille in New Haven.  Click here for more info.  7pm.

SUPER SNACKING:  Can't wait for the Super Bowl, but don't feel like making your own food for the big game?  We've got some ideas to satisfy your football fanaticism and your munchie mania.  First, head to Sliders in Plainville, Berlin or Southington.  The bar & grill has everything you need to enjoy the game (beer and wings).  The only catch, you need a reservation.  Second, head to Chester and the River Tavern.  They are offering a meal of authentic barbecue from the Farm Dinner truck.  There's everything you need for a hearty football meal, from the entrees to the sides and even half-priced cocktails.  Third, hit a home-run (we know, wrong sport) at TD Homer's in Southington.  They've got 90 HDTV's which will all be tuned into the Colts-Saints game.  Besides the screens, you can get some great football fare, including burgers and beer, and you can even score some free wings depending on your order.  And just as an aside, we here at WYDTW have put our heads together and come up with a prediction (for entertainment purposes only) for the Super Bowl.  (drum-roll please, thanks)  Colts 34, Saints 24.  Sorry New Orleans, we're rooting for you, but we think you'll come up just a bit short in this one.
