CUE THE SCREAMING TEENS: Everybody's favorite Disney Super Teen Idols are making a stop in Connecticut Friday. Yup, Nick, Kevin and Joe Jonas (didn't even have to look up their names) are in town. Head to the Comcast Theatre in Hartford to check out the brotherly trio, and hear all your favorite tunes (you know you know all the words). Tickets are $37.50 on the lawn and up to $97.50 for reserved seats. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.
WHEN ARE YOU GONNA COME DOWN: Back in the 90's Counting Crows burst onto the scene with one of the best debut albums of all time. Seriously, August and Everything After didn't have a single bad track. Any-who, more than 15 years and a string of hit records under their belts, Adam Duritz and the boys are still going strong. Friday night, they take the stage at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods. Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are $50-$80.
WHALE TALE: Ever since they bolted our fair Nutmeg State, fans have been pining for the return of the Whalers. And at least for a brief weekend, those dreams are coming true. Whaler Legends Kevin Dineen and Ron Francis are headlining the first ever Whalers reunion and Fan Fest at Rentschler Field. Saturday will be dedicated to celebrating the history of The Whale. It will also be your chance to get autographs, buy merchandise and memorabilia and even participated in interactive hockey games. Festivities run from 11 p.m.-6 p.m.
THE FEATURES: Head to the Bushnell this weekend for a Filmmakers Forum. For $50 Friday night, enjoy cocktails and a meet-and-greet, a screening of Rambling Rose and a Q&A with the director. For $375 Saturday, you can attend a host of workshops on everything from directing, to writing to characters and more. Plus there are screenings of Ray and Norma Rae, discussions with filmmakers and dinner.
GET FLUFFY: He's one of the most popular comics working today. And this weekend, you can see Gabriel Iglesias right here in Connecticut. The heavyweight of stand-up will be at the Palace Theater in Waterbury Saturday night. Gabriel's show is a hilarious mix of storytelling, parodies, characters and sound effects all packaged into a Hawaiian shirt. Tickets are $33.75-$39.75. The show starts at 8 p.m.
FRUITS OF THE VINE: The Fourth Annual Shoreline Wine Festival is underway this weekend in Guilford. Head to Bishop's Orchards for a Saturday and Sunday filled with food and wine from local restaurants. Besides the eats and drinks, you can shop for products from local artisans and businesses. You can even expand your knowledge of food and wine during seminars from local experts. And you can do it all while listening to some live music from local artists. Depending on your age, the festivities will cost you anywhere from $5-$30. The Festival runs Saturday from noon-7 p.m. and Sunday from noon-6 p.m.
WOULDN'T YOU LIKE TO BE A PEPPER TOO? OR PERHAPS A TOMATO WOULD BE MORE TO YOUR LIKING: Garlic Farm in West Granby is home this weekend to the Garlic Farm Tomato & Pepper Festival. Guests to the farm can taste bite-sized samples of the farm's pesticide-free tomatoes and peppers (both sweet and hot). Vote for the spiciest pepper--if you dare! You can also taste food and cooking events like a Gazpacho demonstration, and 50 Ways to Stuff a Pepper. The free festival runs from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
