The battle for the best chili in the state takes place this Saturday.
Connecticut chili fans are in for a treat.
Whether you prefer Cincinnati-style chili with the secret ingredients of cinnamon and chocolate (Don't knock it 'til you've tried it), chili con carne (with meat and all the great stuff), Texas chili (no beans) or my favorite, the 5-alarm chili (I'm from outside Buffalo, where we're known for our hot sauce), Somers is the place for you on Saturday.
The New England Regional Chili Cook-off takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Pleasantville on 452 South Road.
For $5, you get to sample all of the original creations from Connecticut chefs.
Best of all, proceeds from the event benefit the Enfield Food Shelf.
Bring on the spoons and bowls, with a side of cheese and sour cream.
