Get Ready for Sonic! Wallingford Site Opens Wednesday

Sonic mania has hit Connecticut to the point where Facebook and Twitter are buzzing about the anticipated opening in Wallingford and another one in Manchester.

Well, the wait is over. Come tomorrow, Connecticut residents craving a Sonic burger or chicken club toaster won’t have to drive to New York or New Jersey to get their fix. They'll just have to drive to Wallingford.

Sonic officials will open on West Colony Road in Wallingford on Wednesday morning.

It is the first Sonic to open in Connecticut, but it will not be the last. A second location has been approved in Manchester. Sonic also wants to open a site in Milford or Orange in the future.

Last week, Sonic received approval from the Planning & Zoning and the Inlands & Wetlands commissions, Manchester planning officials said.

Sonic needs additional permits in Manchester, but construction could begin on Buckland Street by the movie theaters in fall of 2010.

Should Sonic open as planned on Wednesday, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. and doors will open at 10:30 a.m.
