Stimulating the State's Stomachs

We’ve all got to eat.  And while some restaurants have been fried because of the economy, others are set to open soon in New London and Southington.

Two Wives Pizza Restaurant:  As the New London Day puts it, the city will soon be “full of dough”.  The building owner’s wife and the building manager will deliver New York-style pizza to the city in the old industrial building.  They also plan to offer wine, beer, specialty cheese and baked goods.

The Exchange Bar and Grille:  The bar at 74 Bank Street in New London has been empty for 20 years, but the Day tells us a rehab is underway.  Expect an oval bar made of glass bricks, they say, plus glass doors that open up to a gorgeous view of the Thames.  They say they’ll be open “soon”.

Captain’s Pizza:  The original owner is also set to reopen his pizza shop in the waterfront area soon.  He sold the business last year and then decided to reopen it, says the paper, after the new owners folded.  Just like a pizza crust should.

TD Homer’s Sports Grille:  The restaurant group that’s brought us Wood-n-Tap, Agave and Vaughan’s is hoping for a home run with a sports-themed place, friendly enough for kids.  The insides of TD Homers are being transformed into a stadium scene, reports the Courant.  Cartoons will be playing on just some of the 90 television screens.  Oh, and Make-Your-Own-Sundaes are served in plastic baseball caps.

Almost makes you want to go stimulate the economy.
