I-84 in Middlebury Reopens After Crash

Trees toppling on roads are causing commuting congestion, but one of the biggest problems in the Middlebury area was the collision of a box truck and a propane truck.

The two trucks collided on Interstate 84 on Monday afternoon, closing the road because the propane truck was carrying 1,500 gallons of propane.

Fire officials slowly released the propane into the atmosphere as a precaution before taking the truck off the highway, police said.

The driver of the box truck driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital to get checked out.

Traffic was taken off the highway at exit 16 Eastbound and state police turned around cars that are stuck on the highway behind the crash. The crash is not weather-related but that could be a factor, police said.
