Train Stuck in Wires, Metro-North, Amtrak Service Suspended

The Metro-North and Amtrak commuter rail services was suspended in southwestern Connecticut on Thursday after a train became entangled in overhead wires.

There was no service between South Norwalk and New Haven early Thursday afternoon, and Amtrak says it has no service between New Haven and New York. It resumed as of 2 p.m., according to an alert from Metro-North.

It's not clear when the services will be restored.

Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesman Dan Brucker said an Amtrak train was reportedly ensnared in overhead wires near Metro-North's South Norwalk station. Wire damage is also being reported near Bridgeport.
