Number of Employees on Leave from Whiting Doubles

The number of Whiting Forensic Division of Connecticut Valley Hospital employees in Middletown on administrative leave connected to the investigation has nearly doubled since NBC Connecticut Troubleshooter's first report

The state confirmed the number of employees on leave as a result of this investigation is now up to 20.

Sources told the NBC Connecticut Troubleshooters this stems from an incident at the maximum security portion of Whiting, where employees at the psychiatric facility were seen on surveillance video abusing a patient.

The sources said other employees not involved in the abuse failed to tell supervisors about it. People who work in this hospital are all mandated reporters.

The state has not given any indication how long its investigation will take, or what kind of abuse a patient, or patients suffered.
