Pursuit of Retired Pediatrician Continues After His Death

Half dozen haven come forward alleging sexual abuse.

A New Britain pediatrician who was accused by his patients of sexual abuse died.

Robert Rackliffe was 92.

While Doctor Rackliffe died this past Saturday, it doesn't appear this will stop the case against him. The three men and three women have accused the retired doctor and book author of sexually assaulting them at his former offices in New Britain in the 1970's and 1980's when he gave them pediatric exams.

Rackliffe's attorney says “Nothing that is alleged in these complaints is anything other than a routine medical examination...the issue here is whether a routine medical examination is a sexual assault.”

The attorney for Rackliffe's half dozen alleged victims tells the NBC Connecticut Troubleshooters “In spite of the passing of the defendant, the pending cases will continue against his estate and new cases will be filed as more brave victims have come forward to report the child abuse they were subject to.”

Rackliffe had most recently lived in Farmington.
