A beautiful day is on tap with abundant sunshine and comfortable temperatures (for mid-January)! Our average high this time of the year is 35 degrees, but we'll be closer to 40 degrees Friday and possibly 45 Saturday.

Wind will generally be light today, too, which will make a difference in the wind chill factor. Tomorrow, an approaching storm system from the southwest will increase winds from the south, drawing in rain showers during the afternoon and evening.

Chances for snow are increasing for Sunday night into Monday morning, as an area of low pressure develops near the mid-Atlantic and treks just offshore of our area. As always, these weather systems are feast or famine when it comes to snowfall. A track too far away from us gives us 0" of snow, but a track closer to us gives us 6"+

A preliminary snowfall forecast is 2 to 4 inches of snow, but this has a slightly higher uncertainty because of the coastal track of the storm system.

The coldest air of the season will arrive Monday night, lasting through Thursday morning.

The wind is expected to increase again by Monday after the weekend systems pass by. Windy conditions will mean sub-zero feels like temperatures at times on Tuesday and Wednesday.
