Three Chances for Snow in Five Days

Tuesday Weather Blog

The first in a series of winter storms will give us a glancing blow of light, fluffy snow overnight tonight and into Wednesday morning. We're not expecting a lot of snow, but an inch or two of snow across the coastline and up to an inch in central Connecticut.

Conditions will continue to favor icy spots from our recent bouts of snow and mixed precipitation, as temperatures remain well below freezing overnight and into Wednesday morning.

The Stormtracker Future Radar shows the overnight snow making its way into central Connecticut and favoring the southern half of the state. We do not anticipate widespread delays Wednesday morning, but a few will be possible.

Or next storm arrives late Wednesday night and into Thursday. That storm system will have a greater potential for a heavier wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. As it appears right now, freezing rain would be the predominate precipitation type for Thursday morning's commute.

Some delays will be possible Thursday morning, especially in northern Connecticut where the freezing rain will be most likely.

In advance of Wednesday night's wintry mix, a winter weather advisory has been issued for northern Connecticut for 1-4" of snow, plus up to one-tenth of an inch of ice.

After Thursday our active pattern continues with another system expected for the upcoming weekend. There are still plenty of differences between models but we could be talking about another storm to bring all winter precip types, including snow, sleet, and freezing rain. We'll keep you updated with any changes over the next several days.
