First Alert: Snow Leads to School Delays, Some Slippery Roads

There are dozens of school delays Tuesday morning as a light coating of snow coats roads and the NBC Connecticut meteorologists have issued a First Alert.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Fairfield, New Haven and Litchfield Counties.

This storm will have a wintry side to it.

We're not expecting much accumulation, unfortunately, the wintry precipitation is falling during the morning commute.

More than 90 schools decided to delay as the snow created slippery conditions.

There are also some traffic issues. A crash on Interstate 95 North in West Haven is causing four miles of delays.

Off and on showers are expected to continue this afternoon and evening, with otherwise cloudy skies, before we run the risk of the transition back into snow mixing with rain by early Wednesday morning.

Once our second round of wintry weather clears Wednesday night, much colder air will move in for the end of the week and weekend, with high temperatures for Friday through the start of next week will top off in the 20s and 30s. We'll also have a wind chill factor for Friday morning making it feel like the single digits.
