Strong Storms to Weaken As They Move East Overnight

Severe thunderstorms are moving through Connecticut Friday night and the threat remains through early Saturday.

Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for Hartford, Litchfield and Fairfield counties throughout the night as strong storms brought gusty winds, frequent lightning and heavy rains.

The stormy weather came in two different waves. The first wave of thunderstorms came through Connecticut in the afternoon. A second round of storms moves through overnight.

The storms will weaken as they move east and by 2 to 3 a.m. they should be reduced to showers.
