Governor Tours Cosey Beach on Anniversary of Irene

Tropical Storm Irene left her mark all over the state of Connecticut last year and Cosey Beach in East Haven was one of the hardest hit areas.

The powerful storm destroyed more than a dozen waterfront houses in the community, reducing some of them to nothing more than rubble.

To matter matters worse. thieves looted six of the condemned houses and stripped them of copper in days after the storm.

On the anniversary of Topical Storm Irene, Gov. Dannel Malloy toured the neighborhood.

Malloy along with Department of Insurance Commissioner Thomas Leonardi, Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Deputy Commissioner Bill Shea and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Dan Esty met with East Haven town officials and members of the town’s legislative delegation Monday.  The group walked through the Cosey Beach neighborhood to view redevelopment efforts.
