School Delays and Slick Commute

Plow drivers were busy trying to clear roads covered in snow Tuesday morning.

Flurries and a series of snow squalls dropped up to 5 inches of snow in parts of Connecticut.

Those conditions were complicated by a flash freeze of wet roadways late Monday night, making some surfaces very icy overnight.

Several accidents were reported around the state, including a crash that closed lanes on Route 8 in Bridgeport.

Dozens of schools delayed opening to give crews time to treat and clear roads before sending buses on their routes.

The Department of Transportation had more than 300 plow drivers out Monday night into Tuesday morning to keep roads safe.
