Spring to Bring Wintry Mix

Snow will spread across the state Monday morning.

The first full day of spring is expected to be anything but spring-like.

A wintry mix will spread across Connecticut Monday, dropping snow in parts of the state, according to Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan.

A system will move from the Midwest into the Northeast Monday morning, with snow breaking out just about everywhere across Connecticut between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m.  It's a far cry from the weather pattern that brought us record-high temperatures in the 70s Friday.

Snow will mix with rain south of Hartford and along the shoreline with just minor accumulations expected. North of I-84, however, enough cold air will linger for 1"-3" of accumulation by midday Monday. Eventually, even inland, snow will change to rain as the system moves out in the afternoon.

Roads will become slippery, especially in the hill towns, during the mid morning hours Monday. The evening commute should be fine as temperatures warm to near 40 degrees.
