Melissa Colorado is a general assignment reporter for NBC 4 New York/WNBC, appearing weekdays and weekends during the station’s evening newscasts. She is a New York City native and first worked for WNBC as an intern in college.
Prior to joining WNBC on a full-time basis in 2022, Colorado worked for nearly five years as a reporter for NBC Bay Area. She also filed reports for NBC Bay Area’s digital platforms and for its sister station, Telemundo 48 Area de La Bahia / KSTS. While at NBC Bay Area, she focused on the issues of concern to the residents of the East Bay and covered the outbreak and local response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Colorado joined NBC Bay Area from KARE-TV in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she covered a number of high-profile stories including the fatal 2016 police shooting of Philando Castile, the death of Prince and Super Bowl LII. She has also worked as a reporter in Albuquerque, New Mexico at KOAT-TV, as well as in New York City for News 12 Westchester and WPIX-TV.
Born in Elmhurst, Queens, Colorado is a graduate of Stuyvesant High School and Brooklyn College. She is fluent in Spanish and enjoys running and hiking with her rescue dog Sota.
