Dog Dead, 3 People Injured in Middletown Apartment Fire

What caused this fire at a Middletown apartment complex? It sent 3 residents and a firefighter to the hospital with minor injuries.

A dog has died and three people were treated for minor injuries after a fire at apartments in Middletown Thursday. 

Fire broke out on the third floor of Town Colony Apartments and 75 firefighters from several districts responded, according to Chief Michael Howley, of the Westfield Fire District. 

Two people were treated for smoke inhalation and one was treated for a wrist injury.

Ten pets were rescued, officials said.

Twenty four units were affected and the fire marshal is investigating. 

The Salvation Army and the Red Cross are helping displaced residents.
