52 New Troopers Join Connecticut State Police

Fifty-eight new state troopers have graduated from the Connecticut State Police Academy.

The class of troopers received congratulations from officials including emergency services Commissioner Dora Schriro during a ceremony Thursday at the University of Connecticut.

The youngest in the new class of troopers is 23 and the oldest is 42. Police officials say a dozen of them have military experience and 30 have bachelor degrees, while three have graduate degrees.

The new troopers entered the academy in June and logged about 1,400 hours in the classroom in addition to physical conditioning, water rescue and other specialized training.
