Amann Says Rell Will Not Run Again

It's only his opinion, he says, but Democratic gubernatorial candidate James Amann believes Governor M. Jodi Rell will not seek another term in 2010.

Amann is the former Speaker of the State House of Representatives who officially announced his candidacy for governor last Wednesday in Bridgeport.

Secretary Of The State Susan Bysiewicz and Stamford Mayor Dannel Malloy are expected to be among other Democrats seeking their parties nomination.

Appearing on this Sunday's "Connecticut Newsmakers" program, Amann said he's running for governor because he believes Rell will not seek another term.    He said he was correct last year when he predicted Attorney General Richard Blumenthal would not run for governor in 2010 .  Blumenthal confirmed that earlier this month.

Rell, who appeared on last Sunday's "Connecticut Newsmakers" program, would not commit herself  as to whether or not she'll run again.

Right now, said Rell, her only concern is trying to get the state out of a financial crisis that projects billions of dollars in deficits over the next three fiscal years.
