Burglars Smash Window, Steal $800 Worth of Sunglasses of EbLens in New Haven

A thief stole $800 worth of sunglasses from the EbLens store on Whalley Avenue in New Haven, according to a company official.

CORRECTION (June 9, 2017, 3:55 p.m.): An earlier version of this story said the sunglasses were worth $11,000 because that is the information New Haven police released earlier.

Burglars smashed the front window of EbLens in New Haven early Friday morning and made off with $800 worth of sunglasses, according to a company official.

Four pairs of glasses were stolen, the official said.

The incident happened at 60 Whalley Ave. at 3:47 a.m., according to police.

EbLens was founded in New Britain in 1949 and has expanded to several locations in Connecticut, as well as Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New York.
