NBC Connecticut

A crash closed part of Route 15 south and a section of the Berlin Turnpike in Wethersfield on Wednesday morning.

Officers received several 911 calls about a crash on the Berlin Turnpike near Pawtucket Avenue around 7:30 a.m.

When police arrived, they said they found a heading south went off the road and hit a utility pole, causing the pole to split in two, and there are low hanging wires.

A portion of the Berlin Turnpike was without power and Eversource responded.

Berlin Turnpike and Route 5/15 have reopened.

Due to the low hanging wires and power outage in the area, police said portions of the Berlin Turnpike southbound at Nott Street and Route 5/15 southbound from the Silas Deane Highway were closed.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
