Bloomfield Man Will Be Tried
A New Britain judge has ruled there's enough evidence for a Bloomfield man to be tried in the Valentine's Day stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend. James Carter II is accused of stabbing Tiana Notice outside her Plainville home, police said.
Cops: Man Goes Berserk, Attacks Doc and Nurse
Connecticut police arrested a Fairfield man after he allegedly went berserk at a doctor's office after allegedly being refused an appointment. Fairfield police say Randy Spartachino, 44, punched the doctor in the face and slamming his nurse head first to the floor Tuesday afternoon.
The nurse suffered from broken bones after the attack. Dr. Rahul Anand was treated for bruises.
Police say the doctor refused to examine Spartachino because the man had previously gone to a pharmacy where he fraudulently claimed he had a painkiller prescription from Anand. Spartachino is free after posting bond on charges of assault and breach of peace.

Fatal Crash
A two-car crash killed Christina Rafanello, 23, of Bristol. She was killed after her car collided with a van on Wolcott Road Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Alone in the Casino
A Connecticut prosecutor has opted not to press criminal charges against a Massachusetts woman accused of leaving her 9-year-old daughter alone in a Foxwoods Resort Casino hotel room. Joanne Salvatore, 53, of Quincy, Mass., made a brief appearance Wednesday in New London Superior Court. The prosecutor entered a nolle, which means the state will not pursue prosecution and the case is likely to be dismissed after 13 months.
State police charged Salvatore on April 20 with leaving a child unsupervised in a public place of accommodation, She was released on bond. She was arrested after her daughter called 911.
