Multiple drug take back events were held in Connecticut on Saturday.
In Milford, police collected any unused or expired prescriptions in the parking lot of the senior center on Jepson Drive. Vapes were also accepted. In total, authorities said 685 pounds of medications were safely disposed of.
Hartford residents were able to safely dispose of unwanted and unused prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, medication samples and vapes at three locations in the city. The medications were collected at The Village South on Wethersfield Avenue, Hartford Police Department on Hight Street and The Village Spring Street Family Center on Spring Street.

"Some of these substances can prove dangerous if they fall into the wrong hands, particularly if they are ingested by children," Hartford Police Lt. Anthony Pia said in part in a statement.
The drive-up drug take back event in South Windsor was held at the police department. Anyone with unused and expired household medications was able to bring them to the front of the police department on Sand Hill Road for disposal.

Police said the events were being held in conjunction with the DEA National Drug Take Back Day.
