Officials are looking at ways to conduct contact tracing on anyone that tests positive for COVID-19 to help minimize the spread of the virus if we are to reopen.
There are 2,109 new coronavirus cases in Connecticut since Tuesday and 121 new deaths, according to Gov. Ned Lamont.
That brings the total number of cases to 22,469 and the death toll now stands at 1,544 in the state.
The higher daily numbers were due to a large increase in testing, Lamont said. More than 5,700 tests were processed since Tuesday.
Net hospitalizations rose by 23. Hospitalizations in Fairfield and New Haven counties remained flat and under control, according to Lamont. In Hartford County, hospitalizations are still climbing, he said.
Gov. Lamont said Wednesday he was concerned about the number of COVID-19-related fatalities in Connecticut. The state's proximity to New York City, the epicenter of the U.S. infections, may be the reason for our higher death rates, Lamont said.
