2-Alarm Fire Damages Two Buildings in Hartford

A fire damaged two buildings in Hartford and displaced several people Tuesday.

Fire damaged two buildings in Hartford Tuesday and displaced nine people from three families.

Firefighters were called to a vacant building on Nelson Street around 6:36 p.m. and the fire spread to an occupied neighboring building with three units, forcing eight adults and one child to evacuate.

Crews were back at the scene on Wednesday morning to deal with hotspots and they were able to extinguish them quickly.

One person was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.

The roofs of both buildings collapsed during the fire. Both buildings are now considered uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
