Search for Your Town's Power Restoration Time From Eversource

Power lines fell into the Connecticut River in Old Saybrook.

Power is out for thousands of homes and businesses across Connecticut after the powerful nor’easter Wednesday and Eversource says it hopes to have power restored to everyone by 11 p.m. Sunday.

Eversource, which supplies power to more than 1.2 million customers, is reporting more than 33,118 power outages, as of 7:30 p.m. Friday. The power company released town-by-town power restoration estimations.

You can check the outage report here.

United Illuminating, which provides power to more than 330,000 customers, is reporting more than 3,500 outages at 7:30 p.m.

“This will be a multi-day restoration effort. There is a lot of work that is being done, that will need to be done, and we have every available line and tree crew, mutual aid crew, support person. Everybody’s at work to get these customers back on, ” Mitch Gross, of Eversource, said Thursday.

The storm Wednesday dumped more than two feet of heavy, wet snow in parts of Connecticut and brought down trees and power lines. This was the second nor’easter to hit in less than a week.

A statement from Eversource says the storm broke hundreds of poles and took down thousands of feet of power lines.

Snow Under Deck - Torrington - 03-07-18 I've heard televised reports of snowfall in Torrington from the March 7, 2018 storm, that range around 9 to 10 inches. This photo was made in Torrington after that storm. The location is at the far western edge of the town, midway between Litchfield and Goshen. That's 18 inches of deep snow on the stone wall, and I measured anywhere from 13 to 26 inches at various spots around the house. The average appears to be 15 inches. Downtown Torrington is at around 600 feet above sea level. The location of this photo is at 1150 feet above sea level. That is the likely explanation of the difference in snowfall amounts reported.
