“McHale’s Navy”, “From Here to Eternity”, or even “The Dirty Dozen” take your pick, but Connecticut native Ernest Borgnine has starred in all of them.
Now the 92-year-old from Hamden, who is still working, is adding another honor to his growing list.
The Rhode Island International Film Festival is giving Borgnine a lifetime achievement award. He already has an Academy Award for Best Actor in the movie “Marty.” He also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
When Borgnine receives his award on Friday, there will be a premiere screening of his newest movie, “Another Harvest Moon.” The film is a drama about four elderly Americans coping with life in a nursing home.

Being in Rhode Island also gave Borgnine the chance to take a step back in time and toured Naval Station Newport, where he once trained to become a sailor.
Before the acting bug bit, he served our country as a member of the U.S. Navy and reached the rank of Gunner’s Mate 1st Class.
Ernest Borgnine isn’t slowing down. Since 1999, he’s provided the voice to the character Mermaid Man in the cartoon “SpongeBob SquarePants.”
Tickets are still available for Friday night’s events in Providence. The festivities begin at 7 p.m.
