A man was shot and killed outside a grocery store in Waterbury Tuesday morning, according to police.

Waterbury Police are investigating after a 26-year-old man was fatally shot in the parking lot of a grocery store on Colonial Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

Officials said they were called to Waterbury Hospital around 11 a.m. after Jordan Savage was dropped off there with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead right before officers got there.

Authorities found a crime scene in the parking lot at Colonial Grocer on Colonial Avenue. Police believe that Savage was shot outside in the parking lot.

The store owner said he heard a loud noise while he was helping a customer and the only thing he saw was a man being placed in a car.

"It's astonishing. I never expected something like this to happen...I get along with all my customers. For something like this [to happen] is crazy to me, it is something I never expected," owner Carlos Grullon said.

Grullon said he has a camera up, but it didn't capture the suspect.

The fatal shooting is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 203-574-6941. You can also contact crime stoppers at 203-755-1234.
