Man Found With Loaded Gun, Drugs During Traffic Stop in Vernon: Police

Police have arrested a man after they said he was found in possession of a loaded gun and drugs during a traffic stop in Vernon on Thursday.

Members of the East Central Narcotics Taskforce and Vernon Police were conducting surveillance in the Rockville section of Vernon on Thursday. During an investigation, officers from Vernon Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on a car registered out of Glastonbury.

Officers identified the passenger of the vehicle as 25-year-old Nicholas Tate Wright. Investigators said they found Wright in possession of a loaded gun that was tucked into a brace, wrapped around his rib cage with a small amount of crack cocaine. The driver of the vehicle was released on scene.

Wright is facing charges including possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a pistol without a permit and weapon in a motor vehicle. He was held on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court.
