Milford Cops Hunt Brazen Bandit

Milford police are on the hunt for a burglar who hit three homes last week. An alert neighbor caught the man on tape during one of the crimes.

The first burglary was reported at a home on Pomona Avenue last Wednesday at about 1 p.m., police said. The homeowner returned home and reported the incident to police.

Surveillance cameras set up at a neighbor's home caught the burglar on tape parking his car and then returning to his car carrying a flat screen television. Police released a copy of the video and hope someone will recognize the man or his car. Police believe it is a colored Volkswagon Passat.

The second incident happened the same day on Naugatuck Avenue, police said.

Officers responded to the home after the burglar alarm went off. They found a cut window screen in the back of the home. The alarm system likely scared the thief away, police said.

A homeowner on Mayflower Place reported the third crime last Thursday.

The burglar forced his way into the home through a rear window, the same way he entered the first home, police said.

Once inside, he stole items including flat-screen televisions and jewelry, which can easily be turned into cash, police said.

Residents are encouraged to watch out for suspicious activity and report anything unusual to police.
