More than 100 people have given Connecticut's new governor ideas for reducing bureaucracy and streamlining state government.
Feedback has ranged from easier ways to fill out online forms to eliminating paper paychecks at the Department of Motor Vehicles. The Comptroller's Office is currently working on transitioning employees and retirees to direct deposit.
Democratic Gov. Ned Lamont in early April invited residents and businesses to submit their ideas, using the social media hashtag #cutredtapeCT or emailing them to cutredtape@ct.gov. The Department of Administrative Services plans to keep monitoring the hashtag and email address.
As of May 1, about 110 people have submitted feedback.
DAS Commissioner Josh Geballe says the administration plans to implement many of the ideas, in addition to other cost-cutting and modernization initiatives his agency is pursuing.
