New York Man Charged in Lux, Bond and Green Heist

Shamell Rijfkogel is accused of stealing $580,000 worth of watches from a West Hartford store.

On Friday, June 25, 2010, more than half a million dollars worth of watches were stolen from Lux, Bond, and Green in West Hartford.

Two years later, police have arrested a 24-year-old Brooklyn, New York man accused of stealing $580,000 worth of watches.

Police obtained a warrant for Shamell Rijfkogel, who is also known as Shamell Atkins, on Aug. 29, 2011.

He was extradited from North Carolina and arrested on July 20. He was charged with robbery in the first degree, criminal conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree and larceny in the first degree.

Bond was set at $750,000 and Rijfkogel is due in court on Monday.
