Route 2 in Colchester Reopens After Tractor Trailer Overturns

Route 2 in Colchester has reopened after an overturned tractor-trailer forced part of the highway to close for more than seven hours on Tuesday.

The tractor-trailer rolled over near the center median and closed both lanes of Route 2 eastbound between exits 17 and 18 around 3:45 a.m., according to firefighters.

One lane reopened shortly after and the highway fully reopened around 11 a.m, police said.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) responded to the scene for a diesel leak.

Minor injuries were reported.
