Connecticut Plastic Bag Tax Goes Into Effect Today

Beginning today, Connecticut retailers will tack on 10 cents for each “single-use” plastic bag.

Make sure you have your reusable bags if you head to the store.

Beginning today, Connecticut retailers will tack on 10 cents for each "single-use" plastic bag.

The state expects to generate more than $27 million within the first year.

Single-use plastic bags will be phased out entirely by July 2021.

More than dozen communities in our state have already banned them.
