Military Museum Founder Dead After Police Involved Shooting

State police tell NBC Connecticut Ridgefield police officers confronted an armed man in a yard of a multi-million dollar mansion he refused and pointed a weapon at police and they then shot and killed the suspect.

A police-involved shooting at a multi-million dollar Ridgefield home has left one man dead.

Ridgefield Police were called around 5:15 Friday afternoon for reports of a possible domestic situation at 423 Ridgebury Road.

When police arrived on the scene, they found John Valluzzo, 75, in the front yard armed with a handgun.

Police tried to get Valluzzo put the gun down but he refused. Valuzzo raised his gun towards the officers causing an officer to shoot him.

Valluzzo was taken to Danbury Hospital and died shortly after. The officer was not injured.

State Police and Norwalk Police officers were also on the scene to assist.

Valluzzo was the founder and president of the Southern New England Military Museum in Danbury.

The identity of the officer is being withheld at this time while State Police continue to investigate.
