West Haven Police Search for Man Wanted in Connection With Domestic Violence Case

West Haven Police are continuing to search for a man who’s accused of trying to carjack his ex-girlfriend at knifepoint last night.

Police officers responded to Second Avenue and Elm Street around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a domestic dispute and the victim said her ex-boyfriend, 38-year-old Brian Heyward, had with a knife, got into her vehicle and wanted her drive, but she escaped and called 911.

Heyward was last seen in a gray 2014 Toyota Camry with Connecticut registration OAJ-DT0 and police said they found it several miles away in New Haven.

That prompted lockdowns as a precaution at six schools in the Fair Haven section of New Haven, including four New Haven public schools, St. Francis and St. Rose of Lima.
