A man who was riding a bicycle on New Britain Avenue in West Hartford Thursday night was hit by a vehicle and was taken to the hospital.
Police said the man was struck in the area of 1555 New Britain Ave. around 7:40 p.m. and first responders provided medical aid.
The bicyclist’s injuries were not life-threatening, police said. He was taken to an area hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
The driver of the motor vehicle remained at the scene and refused medical attention, police said.

Eastbound traffic on New Britain Avenue was closed to motor vehicles while first responders were at the scene and detours were in place until around midnight.
The West Hartford Police Department Traffic Division Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating.
